Art Book

For the younger group campers learn a different art technique, including the role of warm and cool colors, mixing colors, patterns and textures in art. At the end of the week your child will have a portfolio to demonstrate what they learned.

Art BookThe 3rd-5th group will let their imaginations soar by writing and illustrating their own children’s book. At the end of the week they will share their stories with our younger campers in a buddy reading session.

ScientistCampers will the learn the important role of air through hands on scientific experiments inspired by Mrs. Frizzle and the Magic School Bus.  Experiments include the shrinking soda bottle, swirling snake and a balloon jet.

DanceEach day campers will learn a new dance from a different region of the world including a Mexican hat dance, an Irish jig and the German polka. Campers will also get an opportunity to learn a little about the cultures these dances come from.

Summer ReadingIn Reader’s Theater, campers “perform” by reading scripts created from grade-level books or stories. Campers will then perform short skits which will improve public speaking and self-confidence.

Classic GamesCampers will have a great time playing a different game or sport each day. Campers will learn sportsmanship and teamwork while playing fun games such as kickball, soccer, guard the pins, and much more.

Famous ArtEach day campers will learn about a famous artist and their and work.  After viewing some of the iconic works of art created by the artists, campers will be encouraged to create their own masterpieces using the same style as the artist.

ScientistCovering a range of different science topics, this program is designed to make science fun with a focus on real world, hands-on projects that are both engaging and educational.   Experiments include creating a rain cloud in a bottle, making slime and creating an explosion in a bag!

Stop MotionCampers will learn about the world of stop motion animation, from very basic scenes to Hollywood blockbusters.  Campers will then make their own stop motion films using their own action figures, stuffed animals or Lego figures to create a unique animated movie.

PhotographyThis photography class will allow campers to learn the basic photography skills that are needed to take a great photo using Apple iPhone.  Younger campers will go on a photography scavenger hunt while our older campers will learn some techniques to improve their camera use.

Play TogetherCampers will work in teams to play games that enhance cooperative learning such as a fitness scavenger hunt, learning to work together to cross a “toxic river” and a game called Frog and Ants which requires collaboration and team work to succeed.

Art of Eric CarleEach day campers will read a different Eric Carle book and one animal from each book will be chosen as the topic of the day.  As a group campers will research that animal and discuss it’s characteristics before creating an art project based on the animal.

DrawingCampers will learn the basic techniques for creating classic still life drawings using toned paper and charcoal or black pencil.  They will also be introduced to famous drawings by Michelangelo, Da Vinci and more.

GardenCampers will learn about what makes their garden grow by potting seeds directly from fruits and vegetables while learning about the importance of a sustainable farming.  At the end of the week campers will have a variety of plants for their own garden.

Summer ReadingCampers will continue their reading throughout the summer by focusing on a different book each week. They will complete related activities such as story writing, journals, independent activities, and create their very own book to share.

DramaRather than learning a staged play, campers will utilize drama games to explore their minds and the world around them. They can use their play-acting in sensory games, pantomimes, story games with puppets and much more.

Sports SanityCampers will learn and practice basic techniques for many different sports such as throwing, catching and kicking.  These skills will be learned through fun, interactive physical education games.

MusicEach day campers will learn how to make a musical instrument from countries around the world while learning about the cultures where the instruments came from. Campers will make instruments such as an African thumb drum and Ancient Egyptian sistrums

LegoCampers work to design towers, bridges and a wide array of Lego and K’NEX™ architecture projects. Campers develop science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills in a fun, hands-on environment.

Computer FunCampers will be introduced to the exciting world of coding using the MIT-developed Scratch program.  Through Scratch and Scratch Jr. campers will learn to program their own interactive stories and games.

MinecraftCampers will use the world of Minecraft to learn about deforestation, climate change etc. through short video clips and group discussion.  Then as a group they will create a Minecraft world that exemplifies the science they learned.

Juniour ChefFrom healthy snacks to fanciful desserts, our campers will experiment with creating their own unique culinary masterpieces.  All our young chefs will also learn about healthy eating habits and receive a short recipe book of their creations.

YogaUsing the Cosmic Yoga program, campers will learn yoga, meditation and mindfulness through stories, games and movement.  Campers will experience yoga that will bring stories to life while improving their flexibility and balance.

YogaCampers will learn meditation through different varieties of games that will encourage them to bring stillness to their busy minds.  By using many techniques that engage the five senses, campers will become more in-tuned to the world around them.

Art BookCampers will learn how to forage for art supplies in their own back yard by collections items such as leaves, twigs or rocks.  Their nature treasures will then be used to make awesome creations including chalk nature paintings, leaf printing, rock art and more.

StarIn this program campers will learn about the universe and all its wonders.  Campers will study the solar system and constellations through books and short video clips and then create their own unique universe using different medium such as Styrofoam, cardboard, paint etc.

MinecraftCampers will be researching and recreating landmarks from history.  They will also be using pixels to create a self-portrait and designing an abstract sculpture garden. There is a lot to learn and explore using Minecraft as a digital teaching tool!

LaughCampers learn all about what makes something funny and apply this information to telling jokes, performing improv skits and stand-up routines.  In return they will build self-confidence and performance skills.

DrawingEach day campers will learn to draw a character from their favorite comic book or TV show.  Campers will have step by step instructions to create these masterpieces.  Some examples include Disney, Marvel and Star Wars characters to name a few.

ArchitectureThis program is centered on exploring the concepts of building and construction through hands-on exploration and design. Participants explore the engineering behind civil structures while having fun building with cardboard boxes and other materials.

DramaRather than learning a staged play, campers will utilize drama games to explore their minds and the world around them. They can use their play-acting in sensory games, pantomimes, story games with puppets and much more.

Stop MotionCampers will be provided a short script where they will then have to cast, direct and star in their own short film.   This process will teach teamwork camaraderie and build self-esteem.  Campers will debut their film to the entire camp at the end of the week.

Famous ArtInspired by the PBS Kids show, campers will learn how to make cool items out of every day materials while enhancing their science and engineering skills.  They will make an unpoppable balloon, create their own marshmallow blaster and much more!

DanceUsing a variety of popular music styles, campers will learn to express themselves with new dance moves.  Styles taught will include line dancing, hip hop and break dancing for our more adventurous campers.

ScientistLearn about the chemistry you encounter everyday while experimenting with different chemical reactions and testing different liquids.  Experiments include using Epson salt to make crystal spikes, creating a seven-layer density column and an exploding volcano.

Juniour ChefA deliciously fun activity, each day campers will use buttercream frostings, fondant decorations, sprinkles and glitters to adorn their yummy desserts while learning the different techniques to apply frosting.

ScientistA lesson on the integration of art and science, campers will explore the beauty of light and color through hands on experiments which will include making a rainbow, creating their own sundial and learning how to print colorful patterns on paper.

Sports SanityCampers will learn and practice basic techniques for many different sports such as throwing, catching and kicking.  These skills will be learned through fun, interactive physical education games.

Stop MotionEach day campers will read a short story discuss ways that they might change something about the story to turn it into a movie.  At the end of the week will choose a book and watch it’s corresponding movie to understand see this concept in action.

Art BookCampers will learn how to make cool crafts using recycled materials, create critters from natural objects, make beads, mix up cave paint and much more!  Additionally, campers will be encouraged to think outside the box, using craft materials to design their own unique projects.
